Weed is going to be legal around the US within a year.

Well, that’s if you listen to the pundits and look at the industry. For instance, Canopy Growth just bid $3.4 billion for Acreage Holding.

That’s a Canadian cannabis industry giant making a deal with a New York-based competitor, respectively, on the basis of federal law changing. The respective CEOs are betting that it happens within a year!

Clearly, it’s an exciting time for pot smokers around the country.

Newfound freedom always calls for an era of experimentation. Novel ways of cannabis consumption are called for. Food-infused concoctions are on today’s menu. Are you a budding weed smoker looking to experiment with cannabis cookery?

4 Awesome Weed Recipes to Enhance Your Cannabis Cookbook

Edibles combine your love of cooking with your love of weed. Here are some foundational recipes to begin your cannabis cooking journey.

1. Canna-Oil

Canna-oil is often a basis for your weed cooking. Infused with marijuana, you can use the oil as you wish to enhance your food with a nice high! Remember, canola oil and vegetable oils are better for sweet stuff; olive oils work well with savory.

Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • Good quality marijuana – approx. 5 grams
  • Oil of choice – 2 cups

Guide:

The first step is to decarboxylate your marijuana. Spread it out on a baking sheet in one even layer. Next, put the sheet in a preheated oven at 220 degrees Fahrenheit for around 30-45 minutes. Keep an eye on it though. Don’t let it burn!

With the weed successfully decarboxylated you want to store it away for a couple of months. Yes, months! Put it in a container so air can’t get to it, and place it somewhere cool, dark and dry.

Let’s assume you’ve waited two months, or already have 5 grams of decarbed weed lying around.

It’s time to heat your oil of choice in a saucepan. Don’t get it too hot. Medium-low is probably best. Add the weed and cook for around 40 to 45 minutes. Again, don’t let it get too hot (too hot would be over 200 degrees Fahrenheit).

With that done, remove from the heat. Allow the lovely weed-oil combo to stand and cool for 10-15 minutes. Finally, use a sieve to strain out the oil, using a spoon or some other implement to press through as much oil as possible.

And voila! A fresh batch of potent canna-oil.

Pro Tip: Prefer butter to oil? Use exactly the same process to make canna-butter. Just swap out the oil with butter…obviously. Use it in your cooking and baking as required.

2. Canna-Tea

This one’s self-explanatory. Want a brew? Want to get high? Want to kill two birds with one stone? Canna-tea is what you need.

Ingredients:

  • Tea of choice
  • Cannabis tincture
  • Milk, honey, sugar

Guide:

You could probably figure this one out for yourself. But in the interest of consistency, here’s the quickest how-to going.

Boil your water and make your tea. Then add a dose of your cannabis tincture (whichever one you prefer). Finally, sweeten with honey and/or sugar, and add milk (if that’s your preference).

3. Canna-Mac-n-Cheese

Who doesn’t love mac-n-cheese? It’s the ultimate in hearty, feel-good, binge food. It’s time the traditional recipe was brought into the 21st 420 century.

Ingredients (serves 5…depending on your munchies):

  • 0.5lb macaroni
  • 1 tablespoon of canola oil
  • Seasoning (salt/pepper)
  • Cannabutter (5 tablespoons)
  • 0.5 cups flour
  • 3 cups warm milk
  • 12 oz cheese of choice
  • Spices (smoked paprika, nutmeg)

Guide:

Cook your macaroni as normal, then drain and set it aside.

With the mac sorted, it’s time for the cheese. Melt your cannabutter in a saucepan and add your flour. Be sure to keep stirring every so often until smooth. When it’s combined, add your warm milk and cook until the sauce is thick enough.

Now it’s actual cheese time. Put your cheese into the sauce along with the seasoning and spices. Stir it all in and add your macaroni. Place into ramekins or small dishes of choice.

Pro tip: Trying to impress a mate? Want to make it fancier? Add a breadcrumb, canna-oil and cheddar cheese mix to the top of the mac n cheese.

Finally, bake in a preheated oven (375 degrees Fahrenheit) for half an hour.

4. Canna Mug Cake

Weed brownies are old news. Enter the chocolate mug cake. Oh, and it only takes 5 minutes to make. That’s good news for any impatient aspiring stoners out there.

Ingredients:

  • Softened canna-butter (As required)
  • Cocoa powder (2 tablespoons)
  • Flour (4 tablespoons)
  • Sugar (4 teaspoons)
  • Chocolate chips (lots)
  • 1 egg

Guide:

Find a mug that’s safe for the microwave. Oh, and find a microwave.

Next, put everything into your mug. Yep, all at once. Mix it all up until well combined. At this point, you can add anything else you might want to make it yours. Blueberries, nuts, and/or marshmallows come to mind.

Finally, cook in the microwave for around 2 minutes or until the center is done.
