Beyond Brownies: Unique Weed Recipes for Beginning Cannabis Cooks

Weed is going to be legal around the US within a year.

Well, that’s if you listen to the pundits and look at the industry. For instance, Canopy Growth just bid $3.4 billion for Acreage Holding.

That’s a Canadian cannabis industry giant making a deal with a New York-based competitor, respectively, on the basis of federal law changing. The respective CEOs are betting that it happens within a year!

Clearly, it’s an exciting time for pot smokers around the country.

Newfound freedom always calls for an era of experimentation. Novel ways of cannabis consumption are called for. Food-infused concoctions are on today’s menu. Are you a budding weed smoker looking to experiment with cannabis cookery?

4 Awesome Weed Recipes to Enhance Your Cannabis Cookbook

Edibles combine your love of cooking with your love of weed. Here are some foundational recipes to begin your cannabis cooking journey.

1. Canna-Oil

Canna-oil is often a basis for your weed cooking. Infused with marijuana, you can use the oil as you wish to enhance your food with a nice high! Remember, canola oil and vegetable oils are better for sweet stuff; olive oils work well with savory.

Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • Good quality marijuana – approx. 5 grams
  • Oil of choice – 2 cups

Guide:

The first step is to decarboxylate your marijuana. Spread it out on a baking sheet in one even layer. Next, put the sheet in a preheated oven at 220 degrees Fahrenheit for around 30-45 minutes. Keep an eye on it though. Don’t let it burn!

With the weed successfully decarboxylated you want to store it away for a couple of months. Yes, months! Put it in a container so air can’t get to it, and place it somewhere cool, dark and dry.

Let’s assume you’ve waited two months, or already have 5 grams of decarbed weed lying around.

It’s time to heat your oil of choice in a saucepan. Don’t get it too hot. Medium-low is probably best. Add the weed and cook for around 40 to 45 minutes. Again, don’t let it get too hot (too hot would be over 200 degrees Fahrenheit).

With that done, remove from the heat. Allow the lovely weed-oil combo to stand and cool for 10-15 minutes. Finally, use a sieve to strain out the oil, using a spoon or some other implement to press through as much oil as possible.

And voila! A fresh batch of potent canna-oil.

Pro Tip: Prefer butter to oil? Use exactly the same process to make canna-butter. Just swap out the oil with butter…obviously. Use it in your cooking and baking as required.

2. Canna-Tea

This one’s self-explanatory. Want a brew? Want to get high? Want to kill two birds with one stone? Canna-tea is what you need.

Ingredients:

  • Tea of choice
  • Cannabis tincture
  • Milk, honey, sugar

Guide:

You could probably figure this one out for yourself. But in the interest of consistency, here’s the quickest how-to going.

Boil your water and make your tea. Then add a dose of your cannabis tincture (whichever one you prefer). Finally, sweeten with honey and/or sugar, and add milk (if that’s your preference).

3. Canna-Mac-n-Cheese

Who doesn’t love mac-n-cheese? It’s the ultimate in hearty, feel-good, binge food. It’s time the traditional recipe was brought into the 21st 420 century.

Ingredients (serves 5…depending on your munchies):

  • 0.5lb macaroni
  • 1 tablespoon of canola oil
  • Seasoning (salt/pepper)
  • Cannabutter (5 tablespoons)
  • 0.5 cups flour
  • 3 cups warm milk
  • 12 oz cheese of choice
  • Spices (smoked paprika, nutmeg)

Guide:

Cook your macaroni as normal, then drain and set it aside.

With the mac sorted, it’s time for the cheese. Melt your cannabutter in a saucepan and add your flour. Be sure to keep stirring every so often until smooth. When it’s combined, add your warm milk and cook until the sauce is thick enough.

Now it’s actual cheese time. Put your cheese into the sauce along with the seasoning and spices. Stir it all in and add your macaroni. Place into ramekins or small dishes of choice.

Pro tip: Trying to impress a mate? Want to make it fancier? Add a breadcrumb, canna-oil and cheddar cheese mix to the top of the mac n cheese.

Finally, bake in a preheated oven (375 degrees Fahrenheit) for half an hour.

4. Canna Mug Cake

Weed brownies are old news. Enter the chocolate mug cake. Oh, and it only takes 5 minutes to make. That’s good news for any impatient aspiring stoners out there.

Ingredients:

  • Softened canna-butter (As required)
  • Cocoa powder (2 tablespoons)
  • Flour (4 tablespoons)
  • Sugar (4 teaspoons)
  • Chocolate chips (lots)
  • 1 egg

Guide:

Find a mug that’s safe for the microwave. Oh, and find a microwave.

Next, put everything into your mug. Yep, all at once. Mix it all up until well combined. At this point, you can add anything else you might want to make it yours. Blueberries, nuts, and/or marshmallows come to mind.

Finally, cook in the microwave for around 2 minutes or until the center is done.

Viva Las Vegas: Your Guide to Throwing an Awesome Las Vegas Bachelorette Party

Let’s face it, wedding planning is stressful. From a mix up with the flowers to issues finding the perfect dress, the blushing bride hasn’t been in the most relaxed state during the process.

Here comes the saving grace – one wild and wicked bachelorette party with the bridal squad in the nightlife capital of the United States. It could only be the almighty party paradise that is Sin City!

Las Vegas is one of the hottest bachelorette party destinations in the world, and with good reason. The weather is incredible year-round and there is so much to do when it comes to letting loose and having fun!

But with so many options, it’s a bit daunting.

How to plan a bachelorette party? What should you book? Where to even start?

That’s why we’re here to help with our guide to throwing the ultimate Las Vegas bachelorette party – so the bridal shower can enjoy one hell of a party before the big day!

1. Line Those Stomachs at an Amazing Restaurant

Before hitting the clubs it’s a wise idea to line those stomachs with some delicious grub. Not only will it help with the hangover, but Las Vegas is home to some of the finest dining experiences in the country, with restaurants owned by some of the world’s top chefs.

This makes it difficult to choose a spot – but luckily almost impossible to make a bad choice!

Sushi Samba, located at The Palazzo, is a popular fine-dining choice among guests. Imagine a restaurant where the intense flavors of Japan meet with the party atmosphere of Brazil.

Choose from delicious and decadent sushi rolls, tempura and seafood dishes. It’s a sushi experience like no other!

Bottomless brunch is a great way to get bang for your buck – with unlimited alcohol with your morning brunch within a certain time period. Mandalay Bay and The Venetian offer yummy boozy brunches at a decent value.

2. Go Gambling

Although you can have an incredible time in Vegas without touching a slot machine, you might as well give it go while you’re there, right?

Las Vegas is littered with casinos, so choosing one is a bit overwhelming.

New York, New York is a great option, especially for newbies as the dealers are warm and happy to explain the games. Plus, there’s a roller coaster, right in the middle of the action! Just remember to take a ride before you start boozing – not after.

3. Hit the Night Clubs

On a Vegas bachelorette party, hitting the clubs is an absolute must. Sin City hosts some of the best clubs in the world and a night on the town is bound to be a memorable one.

If you want to go all out, XS at Encore boasts renowned DJs that play almost every night of the week. The Chainsmokers, Diplo, David Guetta, and Steve Angello are just a few of the famous faces that grace the decks.

There are, however, many club choices – you’ll have the pick of the bunch.

Make sure you check out Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for promoter contact information. Promoters are everywhere in Vegas and can help secure the VIP guest list, which gets you free entry and lets you avoid the long lines. This is especially true for big groups of girls heading in together.

Got some budget to play with? Party in true celebrity style and go for bottle and table service. You’ll have your own space to sit and relax between sets should you need a break from dancing on those fierce heels!

The bride will feel like a true VIP.

4. Let Loose at a Pool Party

No bachelorette party is complete without hitting one of Vegas’s famous pool parties.

Pop into your most stylish swim gear and get glam – it may be a pool party, but don’t hesitate to dress up.

Again, there are many parties to choose from but the most impressive include Marquee Day Club at the Cosmopolitan, Daylight at Mandalay Bay, and Encore Beach Club.

Grab a strawberry daiquiri and boogie under the sun with your best gal pals to some of the globe’s top DJs.

5. Soothe Sore Heads at a Spa

There will come a point where your heads are pounding, your stomachs are queasy, and you need a much-needed break from the non-stop partying.

Luckily, on your Vegas bachelorette party, there is ample choice of day spas to relax and get pampered in. Plus, it will be a welcome retreat from the scorching desert sun.

The Venetian offers some of the most indulgent spa days and you can also find decent day passes for non-guests at Treasure Island, Caesars Palace, and Bellagio.

6. Marvel at a Themed Show

A hilarious and fun way to celebrate with your bridal party is to head to one of the sexy all-male themed shows!

Magic Mike and Thunder From Down Under are popular choices among bachelorette parties and watching the performers flaunt their chiseled, jacked bodies is sure to provide a lot of giggles among your group.

Alternatively, Cirque du Soleil is a classy option and has a reputation for performing some of the most mind-boggling shows across the globe. Any one of them is bound to blow your mind, but their show Zumanity is particularly popular.

7. Smoke Some Legal Cannabis

After a jam-packed schedule, it’s likely by the end of the bachelorette party you’ll want to chill and relax with your bridal team.

Here at Thrive, we offer legal, safe and high-quality recreational cannabis for those moments you want to unwind. We’ll even deliver it for ultimate ease, but legally you can only consume if you are staying at a private residence, so keep that in mind!.
